We’ve all seen advertisements across multiple media outlets about how alcohol, beer, or wine is a sign of a good time. From sappy to fun commercials, a person can enjoy an alcoholic drink on almost any occasion.
The pandemic took this to the next level. Instead of going out to a restaurant or bar, people across the country started purchasing alcoholic beverages to enjoy at home.
For reference, data from Statista.com shows that in December 2019 alone, there was an estimated $6.326 billion dollars in retail sales from liquor stores in the United States. Compare that to December 2020, where the estimated retail sales in the U.S reached $7.366 billion dollars. That’s a little over $1 billion dollar difference in one year.

As alcoholic drinks increased the past year, non-alcoholic beverages will also make a considerable impact in the very near future.
In a recent study from Fact.MR, “sales of non-alcoholic wine are expected to reach US$ 1.6 Bn in 2021. Increasing consumption of alcohol-free wine will improve the demand, registering growth at an impressive 10.4% CAGR through 2031.”
Cannabis Infused Non-Alcoholic Beverages
The fact that non-alcoholic beverages ( especially non-alcoholic wine ) has been on an upward trend, innovation in this market is bound to explode. With recent nation-wide legalization occurring in some states, it was only a matter of time these would be fused together.
Now, pair that with a nation that has been leaning towards low-calorie, low-carbs, healthier alternative drinks like Genesee Light, Yuengling Light Lager, and the wildly popular Michelob Ultra. Sales of non-alcoholic infused drinks are surging, capturing almost 50% of total demand.
At the moment, this sector is driven largely by private-label companies and start-ups that are banking on the popularity and medicinal advantages of cannabis. Some of these beverages include:
- Grainwave Belgian-Style White Ale from CERIA Brewing Co.
- Pale Haze THC-Infused Beer from High Style Brewing
- Grenache Blend Rosé from SipCozy
- Tet & Tonic canned Cocktail from Artet
As nation-wide legalization looms on the horizon, this sector will continue to grow. Non-alcoholic drinks used to be discarded and the butt of many jokes. So we ask you:
As we see an uptick trend of these drinks, will you be giving it a shot?
