We are called to speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves. We do this daily as business people, parents, educators, or maybe even as employees. We speak up in the face of sexual harassment, child abuse, religion, and occasionally politics.
Yet, years go by and so many heads remain turned away from those dealing with the after-effects of the prohibition on marijuana that began in the late 1980s. It is the year 2021 and there are still tens of thousands of people sitting in federal prison for non-violent cannabis offenses.
In a nation where the cannabis industry continues to grow in leaps and bounds, we must do more to give life and freedom back to those still in jail for non-violent cannabis offenses.
We here at Git Cannabis stand by The Last Prisoner Project and its initiatives. The Last Prisoner Project holds several petitions for the release of non-violent cannabis prisoners, decriminalization of cannabis , and information on how to write your authorized representatives for cannabis law reform.
